Do you need to fill out an UC application form?

Last Friday, one of my friends, Jack, told me about UC application. He already fill out the form through the UC transfer Website. I was very embarrassed because I didn't even know people started applying.
Right after I heard about it, I started fill out the form, but I faced a problem. The problem was an essay.
I noticed that people need to write an essay. There was topic posted on web site but it really scarred me.
Here are the prompts of the essay

Prompt #1

What is your intended major?  Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experiences you have in the field – such as volunteer work, internships, and employment, participation in student organizations and activities- and what you have gained from your involvement.

Prompt #2

Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution, or experience that is important to you.  What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are.

 If you haven't started writing your essay, you had better get started !

 I know you are very overwhelmed, and frustrated, but it is normal. Don't let theses feelings stop you accomplishing your essay.
